A Healthier Creamy Salad Dressing

You know when you are a kid and you have favorite meals that your mom, grandma, aunt, etc make? And everytime they make it, it is so lovely and dreamy. And then you grow up and realize it is pretty bad for you.

So what to do?

Get rid of a family favorite? Ugh that’s no fun.

Eat something that makes you feel blah? That’s not fun.

Or how about this? Make your own healthy and amazing alternative.

That is exactly what I found myself doing the other day. I had a TON of salad veggies, made a salad, and realized I had run out of every salad topping I could think of.

I opened my fridge, looked around, and shut the door. Nothing.

I opened the pantry, looked in, and closed it. Nothing.

I went back to the fridge, stared for awhile, and grabbed the Greek Yogurt. Surely I could do something with this. And then I remembered the family salad dressing we would eat at holidays – sour cream, onion powder, and a little salt. Sounds kinda weird, but it is crazy good. And pretty easy to make. But Sour Cream – not so healthy and not something I can eat (lactose and I aren’t friends). Instead, plain Greek Yogurt would be a healthier stand in that I could easily whip up for a salad.

So I did.

And it was yummy 🙂

Creamy Salad

Healthy Creamy Salad Dressing:

1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt

1 tsp onion powder

1 pinch sea salt

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend together. Pour over a large salad and toss together until coated (like you would a caesar salad). Eat. Enjoy. Repeat.
