What is one of the best ways to reconnect to yourself AND snag a great workout? Strengthen your core. Your core is not just your abdominal muscles – it’s ALL of the muscles that wrap around the spine; front, back, and sides. When we move these in dynamic, functional ways, we strengthen and sculpt, but we also train our body and mind to support us throughout our daily lives: whether it’s in a yoga class, at the gym, driving the car, or playing with our kids/pets. Functional fitness is the key. It’s not about how you look – it’s about how you feel and how you can learn to support yourself and your body.
When we connect to our center, physically, we also connect to our center spiritually. When we draw our attention inward, to the center of our body, then we begin to connect to the center of our “being”. We start to shed our walls and protective layers. Our barriers start to fall. The breath deepens. We feel strong, healthy, and whole.
