Man oh man, it’s chilly outside again. Looks like this spring time weather isn’t here to stay quite yet. Good thing I have this delicious, warming latte recipe on my hands. Green Tea Lattes are by far my favorite drink to order at the coffee shops. Despite my wishes, I can’t quite go to the shop and have one every day, nor would I want to because most have added tons of sugar and syrups. I like mine straight up – green tea and almond milk. The green tea used in traditional green tea lattes – served quite often in India and Bali – is Matcha Green Tea. Matcha Green tea is powdered – but don’t be fooled, it is quite healthy for you! Matcha green tea contains tons of antioxidants, promotes health, and even has dietary fiber.
Matcha Green tea is also mot as easily available as traditional green tea. I found a sencha/matcha blend at Costco and decided to use this as my base. You can use which ever kind you have available – but if you do have Matcha, I would highly suggest using it. It’s super easy to make, and very tasty.
Green Tea Latte
1 green tea bag/serving of matcha powder
1 cup almond milk
1 tsp agave
1 tsp vanilla
Heat almond milk in a pan. Add agave and vanilla. Whisk briskly until heated and frothy. Pour into mug with tea bag/powder. Let steep and serve. It;s lightly sweet, soothing, and warms the soul.
Enjoy this warming, soothing drink on a chilly day. Have a wonderful first weekend of Spring!
Peace and love,
Jessi
