Water is one of the best, purest sources of hydration for any person, athlete or not. But after an intense workout, water just might not do the trick. Sometimes you need a little something extra to rehydrate and refuel you.
With the #100days100poses challenge, daily workouts, teaching classes, and some weekend fun, I often find that water alone doesn;t quite repower my body. I need more nutrients to replenish what I have lost and with a busy schedule, it helps to get them quickly.
Enter the Post Workout Smoothie. Fresh fruits, coconut milk/water, and the secret weapon – chia seeds. Chia seeds are not only a great source of healthy fats, they also plump up when absorbed in liquid and because of this are very hydrating.
Post Workout Smoothie:
1 cup coconut milk or coconut water
1 cup fresh raspberries
1 frozen banana
2 tbsp chia seeds
Add all ingredients to your blender, turn it on and blend until smooth.
Simple as that.
What is your favorite post-workout treat? How do you like to workout?
