Today, I have a little story to share. I’ve been hinting at a big trip coming up and mentioned Denver and Pilates, so I thought I would explain it a little more today, give you some details, and step way out of my comfort zone. Here we go…
A few weeks ago, I found a coupon on a receipt for $10 off a flight if booked by the end of October. I thought, “Oh man, it would be awesome to actually use this. I would love to travel out west, to head to a conference (teach or take), and to go on an adventure. In my 30’s I want to travel more.” I placed the coupon down and went on my merry way.
A few days later, I was contacted by the Pilates Empowerment Summit. They had read some of my blog posts on yoga/Pilates and wanted me to join them for the weekend. They asked me to be their guest, attend the summit, and write about it for my own and several other sites. I was surprised, honored, and knew it would be impossible – the summit was across the country. But I couldn’t help the excitement growing in my belly – what if I could?
The Pilates Empowerment Summit is led by Madd Dogg Athletics and Peak Pilates, 2 of the leaders and most respected fitness training groups worldwide. Attending the summit would mean learning from the best of the best, while writing daily about the experience. I would be attending and reporting on classes, workshops, and lectures. As they put it, even the best never stop learning. Attending the summit would mean growing my (and your) community, by enhancing both my knowledge and my teaching in mind-body fitness and reaching out to new readers aka potential like-minded folks. It would also mean I get to bring everything I learn back to you on the blog and in my classes. It would be the experience of a lifetime.
After spending days emailing back and forth, talking myself into and out of it, and figuring out the details, I went ahead and booked it. This is an honor, a gift, a once-in-a-lifetime chance that just might open the doors to more opportunities. Saying”no” just didn’t seem like a possibility, in fact, it didn’t seem like a smart move at all. I put my trust in the universe that this is where I needed to go , and that the universe would help provide, with a little hustle on my end.
To get ready I am writing Pilates articles for GaiamTV and MindBodyGreen, spreading the Pilates love with a few fun and effective workouts. Look for the first coming out on Monday, October 13th via GaiamTV followed by an article on MBG. I am looking up places to write, places to run/hike, and opening The Shop for donations. But in order to get ready, I can’t do it alone.
Now here is the part I am hesitant about, the part I usually stumble through and run from, the part where I step outside of my comfort zone and simply ask, “Will you help me?” Four small words with a huge impact.
But its time to face my fears and and reality – I need your help.
A trip across the country is no small thing and neither is the price tag it comes with. Although it is booked, I still need help making it happen. If you are able, donations are open on GoFundMe or by simply clicking the picture/link on the side of this screen. I will pay it forward with love, gratitude, and bringing back everything I learn along the way. Thank you so much for your support, day after day, with living this journey and these dreams.
Help me pay it forward – what are your questions about Pilates? Have you ever tried? Love it or hate it? What moves do you want explained, featured, or put into a workout? Leave your q&a’s in the comments below. I want to take what I learn and bring it back to help you live healthy.
Peace and Love,
Jessi
