Happy day after Labor Day out there! Hope you all are enjoyed a nice, fun filled holiday (aka day off of work) and took advantage of 9-5 freedom to do the one thing most people never have time for – exercise. Wait, what? Exercise? On a holiday? I was supposed to say sleep in, lie around on the beach, drink beer/soda, and eat hotdogs, right? But no, I meant to say it – Exercise.
Exercise is one of the most important things we can do to stay healthy for a lifetime and have energy for all the fun-filled things we have planned for our day. Exercise will help you burn calories, but it will also help you decrease your risk for most major diseases, balance hormones and mood-swings, and even sleep better. But you know what the most important part of exercise is – finding one that you actually enjoy!
I know there are a lot of skeptics out there. I have heard MANY of my near and dear friends/family tell me they don’t like to exercise, so they simply don’t do it. My reply used to be (in my head of course, never out loud) “Well, how do you think you’ll enjoy {insert fatal diseases here} ?” Truthfully, though, exercise will help prevent these. And the best way to start is by finding an exercise that is actually fun!
I love many types of work outs, but not all are for me. I love my Energy flow aerobics, barre, pilates, yoga, running, and even a little tae bo, but in all honesty there are some work outs that I do not enjoy. Step classes get me turned around in circles and super high intensity classes are not my style- but they might be yours. So if you did or didn’t get a chance to move around yesterday, I challenge you to drop your excuses and take 30-60 minutes and get out there and exercise. Give something new a try. You may be surprised to learn you are having fun J
Peace, Love, and Jumping Jacks,
Jessi

September 4, 2012 at 2:07 pmI can honestly say the highlight of my day yesterday was my workout! It was the first time I’ve been able to exercise without a timeline or a commitment attached to it – it was so nice to have my workout be about how I feel for the first time in weeks 🙂
