Apple Pie Toast

Another breakfast toast recipe. They seem so simple, almost too simple to post, but I promise, these are worth checking out. Especially this one.

The reason I love to make toast so much is because it goes so well with a juice or small smoothie, but you can really add to it to give it a nutritional punch. Β A little avocado, avocado toast

and now Apple Pie.

Apple Pie Toast

It takes a little more effort, but is like a piece of apple pie.Perfect for fall. Perfect for breakfast. And definitely not your average toast.

And I am a big fan of sprouted grain bread, which I will talk about in tomorrows video post πŸ™‚

So for today’s recipe, get your favorite healthy bread, a few apples, some spices, and let’s get to it!

Apple Pie Toast:

Makes two pieces – you can decide if you want to share πŸ˜‰

3 small apples, peeled and sliced

2 slices of bread (your choice, gluten-free if needed)

2 tbsp water

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp chia seeds

1-2 tsp honey, agave, or maple syrup

Add apples to a sauce pan on medium high. Add water. Stir until they start to get a little soft (about 5 minutes). Add in the spices, chia seeds, and optional tsp of natural sweetener – you may not need it depending on the sweetness of your apples!

Keep cooking until everything blends and starts to stick together – probably another five minutes. You can mash some of the apples if you’d like to make it a more jam-like consistency, or you can keep them in larger chunks.

Toast your bread. Spread the apple mixture evenly over each piece. I topped it off with a little sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg and a drizzle of sweetener. Serve it up with some juice – I recommend a nice fall beet juice – and enjoy!
